The reducing nipple is a frequently used and very important component in pipe construction. It is used wherever there has to be change from a large nominal width to a small nominal width or vice versa. This means the nipple an outer thread on one side, which is larger than the outer thread on the other side of the nipple. As a result, planning errors, wrongly ordered fittings or structural problems can still be overcome, resolved or installed. The nipple is made from high quality stainless steel 316, brass or the plastic PVC-U. A reduction is possible, for example, from 1/4“ to 1/8“ inches or from 2“ to 1“ inches, which increases flexibility in pipe construction. In a 2“-system, a fitting, for example, a needle valve or solenoid valve with a 1“ internal thread can be installed. This saves costs, of course, as a smaller plastic solenoid valve costs considerably less money (please note the flow volumes and pressure ranges of the fittings).
