A siphon is a pipe shaped circular or in u-shape, so the medium, whether liquid, gaseous or even steam, can settle within the pipe. Due to its shape, the pipe has a large surface area, which is being cooled down by the ambient temperature. This in turn cools down the medium within the pipe. A manometer shut-off valve can be mounted behind the siphon, which allows you to add a manometer or any other measuring instrument. The siphon protects the measuring instrument reliably from pressure surges or too high temperatures of the media. As a result, the manometer can measure the pressure precisely.

To ensure longevity of the siphons, they are made exclusively of stainless steel 1.4571 or steel. Additionally, they are produced out of a single piece of pipe, in order to prevent predetermined breaking points. The connection is a ½“ thread. NieRuf offers siphons in three designs and three different shapes: tap x union nut, welding end x union nut and welding end x welding end. All designs can be produced circular, in a u- or in a flat u-shape. The u-shape helps to reduce pressure horizontally whereas the circular shape helps to reduce pressure vertically. Please keep in mind that installation and removal of siphons require a pressureless system, or else the medium could leak uncontrollably and become a hazard for both workers and the machine itself. A t-piece or a welded thread can be used to connect the siphon within the pipeline.
